Senator Lynn Ruane represents the University of Dublin constituency in the Seanad. An early school leaver from Tallaght, she returned to education as a mature student through the Trinity Access Programme. She went on to be elected President of Trinity College Dublin’s Students Union before being elected to the Seanad in 2016. Prior to her entry to politics, she developed addiction programmes in west Dublin for 15 years.
Her policy interests include education, drug policy and addressing socio-economic and gender inequalities. She is a member of the Joint Oireachtas Education and Skills Committee and serves as deputy leader of the group.
